Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are little blood suckers who come out at night and feed on the blood of their human victims. They strike at the most private and intimate part of our homes - the bedroom. They are disgusting, and there is no reason why you or your family should suffer their attacks. Now that they are back, bed bugs are spreading very quickly, and they have been found in places you would not expect. The UN Building in New York. The AMC Movie Theater in Times Square. They are being found in high end, upscale homes and businesses all across the country.

We used to think that bed bugs were associated with crowded and dilapidated housing, but we have learned that is not always the case, since they have been found in some of the finest hotels and high-end houses.

Bed bugs are small, round with flattened bodies and are reddish in color. The females will lay between 200 and 500 eggs, which will hatch out in about 10 days. Depending on the available food, the development from egg to adult can be as quick as 5 weeks or as long as 4 months. They can go without feeding for 3 to 6 months, so don't plan on starving them out - they will outlast you.

Controlling bed bugs is a very intensive process. Do not try it on your own - you don't have the training, equipment or products. In addition, none of the products you can buy over-the-counter are showing any effectiveness.

One thing you can do on your own, and is a great preventive step, is to purchase and install mattress and box spring encasements. These will seal up the item and make it unavailable as a hiding place for the bugs. Be sure to look for the BugLock® zipper lock. If your zipper isn't bug proof, your encasement isn't much good.

We can arrange to have your home or business inspected using a bed bug sniffing dog. Dogs can find bed bugs quicker than human inspectors can, and they are extremely accurate. Having a dog inspection can save you on your treatment costs.
